Heading off for a short trip to the other side of the country and I noticed how my op shop adventures make travel easy!
My carry on luggage by Longchamps (the real article too) was purchased during my #onlyopshopleather spree.
My blanket coat courtesy of my op shop vintage blanket collection.
To top if off, I’m wrapped in a beautiful soft new pink cashmere Pashmina purchased with tags on $2 from local ‘Good Sammy’s’.
Safe travels everyone. ✈️❤️
Third coat done! This one from a grey bush blanket made from 50% wool & 50% any other fibre you can think of (I even found fishing line in the fabric!!!). Go figure! This mix means it hasn’t felted up with a hot wash and tumble dry.
It’s light weight compared to the felted wool blankets from the previous two coats and so folds differently at the front too.
One happy big sister! She calls it her medieval ‘Queen of the Rings’ coat!
The blankets are lining up now… next will be a camel coat with a new look collar… each one takes approximately one and a half hours max (including cutting the pattern). 🌪
There are so many beautiful vintage woollen blankets at the Op Shops. All well washed and softened through use. My thought was to turn one into a felted winter coat.
Pink and dusty tones are currently popular so my first go involved an old pink blanket.
I’m happy with the first attempt.
Cost = $5.00
Time = 2 hours
